'I was reading a book when the aliens landed at Heathrow Airport'
'I was watching TV!'
'I was doing my homework when the aliens landed!'
Really!?
These are just a few of the senteces created by the 2nd of ESO students while learning how to use the Past Continuous tense. They enjoyed the silly situation of aliens landing at the airport, with some students creating wild scenarios of what they were doing at the time. The most notable was:
'I was riding a kangaroo when the aliens landed at Heathrow Airport!'
As for the 1st of ESO students, the Present Continuous is being practiced.
'I am going to play football this weekend'
'I am playing a game'
'I am studying for an exam in Jose María's class'
The Bachillerato students are practicing conversations regarding airplane tickets. They are doing role plays as both a traveler and as a ticketing agent. The traveler is requesting to find a ticket that best suits the dates he/she would like to fly out on, if there is a stopover, time of departure as well as arrival time, and the most important, the price. The ticketing agents receive 'calls' from travelers with their specific information. The agent must ask to where and when the traveler is traveling, as well as if it is a roundtrip or one way flight. He/she must also ask what class the traveler would like to be in and if he/she is traveling with anyone.
The airport scenario presents a wide variety of practical vocabulary for the students to learn and practice!
